This milestone invites not only the celebration of the nation’s founding in 1776, but reflection upon the ways in which the American story has unfolded across the centuries that followed.
Spanning the Revolutionary era through the modern age, the catalog brings together engravings, ceramics, ephemera, and artifacts that reflect the evolving history of the American republic. Highlights include an American Masonic Mark Jewel bearing a profile portrait of George Washington, a rare pair of Battersea enamel tiebacks depicting Thomas Jefferson, a Henry “Clay Forever” punched tin campaign lantern, and The President’s Dedication Address at Gettysburg, preserving one of the most enduring expressions of national purpose.
