A finely engraved portrait depicting Lafayette in uniform within an elaborate neoclassical border. The inscription records his appointment in 1789 and his renewed prominence during the July Revolution of 1830. Engraved by François Forster, the work reflects Lafayette’s continued prominence in French political life and his enduring reputation as a champion of constitutional liberty on both sides of the Atlantic.
