This pearlware tankard features a raised decoration of wavy vertical stripes highlighted in blue enamel, with an attractive floral band. Between these two areas of decoration, there is a narrow band containing raised letters forming the slogan America Independent 1776. Entirely plausible, this tankard dates to 1826 and the 50th year commemoration of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
