1963 March on Washington Philadelphia Round-Trip Railroad Ticket
Pennsylvania Railroad, August 28, 1963
2 x 5½ inches
A complete round-trip identification ticket issued for travel from Philadelphia to Washington, D.C., aboard the Pennsylvania Railroad for the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom on August 28, 1963. Printed in red on white stock, the ticket retains its unused return coupon, an uncommon survival, and preserves the original itinerary, fare, train schedule, and serial number.
Issued for the historic demonstration at which Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his "I Have a Dream" address, complete untorn examples are seldom encountered, as return coupons were ordinarily surrendered for passage. An evocative artifact from one of the defining events of the American Civil Rights Movement.
Condition: Clean and bright with a single thumb crease at the lower left corner.
