1908 Aero Club of America Wright Brothers Medal by Victor David Brenner

Struck to commemorate the pioneering achievements of Wilbur and Orville Wright, this exceptionally large medal was designed by Victor David Brenner, best known as the designer of the Lincoln cent. The obverse presents conjoined portraits of the Wright brothers, while the reverse depicts the Wright Flyer in flight, capturing the significance of their groundbreaking achievement and the dawn of powered aviation.
 
A rare and impressive medal, with a deep steely-olive patina on the obverse giving way to lighter pewter-gray tones across much of the reverse. A particularly pleasing example of the scarce Smedley-81 issue, struck in .999 fine silver and weighing 127.19 grams (4.09 troy ounces ASW).
