Don Pedro Albizu Campos “Viva Puerto Rico Libre” Button Collection
Circa 1970
1¾ inches
A striking group of five political buttons honoring Puerto Rican nationalist leader Don Pedro Albizu Campos, each bearing his portrait with the declaration “Viva Puerto Rico Libre.” Produced in a range of vivid Day-Glo colors—green, red, white, orange, and yellow—the buttons reflect the renewed visibility of Puerto Rican independence activism in the United States during the late 1960s and early 1970s. The group is particularly appealing for the variety of colors represented, with each example retaining the same bold graphic design.
Condition: Excellent.
