Nebraska "Dry 1916" Felt Pennant
Circa 1916. Length: 30 inches
Red felt pennant with white printed lettering reading "NEBRASKA DRY 1916," produced in support of Nebraska's successful statewide prohibition referendum of 1916. Simple yet striking in design, the pennant commemorates one of the pivotal state victories of the temperance movement, enacted three years before national Prohibition under the Eighteenth Amendment. Political textiles and display pieces of this type were intended for rallies, parades, and public demonstrations, and survive in far smaller numbers than contemporary paper campaign materials.
Condition: Excellent.
