Kennedy "Action, Courage, Integrity" Rare 1960 West Virginia Primary Poster
196015 ½" x 38 ¾"
This vintage poster, printed on thin paper, bears a "770" union bug and the text: "Auth & Paid For By W. Virginia For Kennedy, Kanawha Hotel, Charleston W. VA. Senator Ward Wylie, Chmn." prominently in the lower right corner. The poster encourages voters with the slogans "Vote Kennedy" and "Vote May 10th."
Recognized as the most pivotal primary in West Virginia's history, this event saw John F. Kennedy surmount a 20-point deficit against Hubert Humphrey in early April polls, ultimately leading to Humphrey's withdrawal from the race. Kennedy's victory in West Virginia paved the way for his triumph over Nixon in the general election. Reflecting on this, Kennedy stated in June 1963, "I Would Not Be Where I Now Am, I Would Not Have Some Of The Responsibilities Which I Now Bear, If It Had Not Been For The People Of West Virginia."
Condition: Extremely Fine, with pinholes in each corner and some light scattered edge wear.
