An original concert advertising handbill for The Beatles’ appearance at D.C. Stadium in Washington, D.C., presented on Monday evening, August 15, 1966, during the group’s final American tour. The flyer features bold period graphics promoting the Beatles at the height of their international fame.
The Washington performance formed part of the band’s 1966 North American tour, their last series of public concerts before retiring from touring later that year. The program included appearances by The Ronettes and The Cyrkle, the latter enjoying contemporary chart success with their hit single “Red Rubber Ball.” The concert began at 8:00 p.m. and drew an audience of approximately 32,000 attendees to the stadium.
Concert advertising pieces from the Beatles’ touring years remain among the most sought-after artifacts of twentieth-century popular music, particularly examples connected with the group’s historic final tour of the United States.
