English Creamware Transfer-Printed Plate for the American Market
England, 1810 — Diameter: 7 inches

A Liverpool creamware plate transfer-printed in black with a bold American eagle displayed with shield, olive branch, and arrows, with the motto E Pluribus Unum issuing behind the head. A constellation of stars arcs above the figure, while the cavetto is framed by a delicate border of three floral sprays.

Produced for export to the American market, the plate reflects the strong demand for patriotic wares during the early Federal period. The design closely parallels an American eagle transfer illustrated in Success to America: Creamware for the American Market (Teitelman et al., p. 212).

Condition: Excellent, undamaged, with only minor scattered wear to the transfer decoration.
