This first-printing flyer, known as FD-40 in the Family Dog series, promotes concerts by the Grateful Dead, Steve Miller Blues Band, and Moby Grape at San Francisco's Avalon Ballroom on December 23 and 24, 1966. Designed by Victor Moscoso, the flyer, affectionately called "Hippie Santa Claus," features a vibrant red and green palette with a mischievous, horned Santa Claus at its center, capturing the festive spirit. It has received a Very Fine Plus grade of 8.5 from the Certified Guaranty Company (CGC). Organized by Chet Helms' Family Dog, this event exemplifies the era's vibrant rock scene, with the Grateful Dead continuing to perform at Bill Graham's Fillmore the following New Year's Eve.
