An original concert poster promoting a Vietnam Day Committee benefit dance held at Hearst Gymnasium on the campus of the University of California, Berkeley, on November 5, 1966. Printed in bold red and blue on white stock, the psychedelic design advertises Country Joe & the Fish with Blackburn & Snow, and includes ticket prices, advance sale locations, and the credit to the Berkeley Free Press Offset Printing shop. The energetic hand-lettered composition, signed simply "Cynthia," is a striking example of early San Francisco Bay Area counterculture graphics.
 
Produced at the height of the anti-war movement, the poster reflects the close relationship between music, political activism, and the emerging psychedelic scene in Berkeley. Far less common than contemporary Fillmore or Avalon Ballroom posters, it documents one of the formative moments in the intersection of protest culture and rock music during the 1960s.
 
Condition: Good. Green discoloration along the upper and right margins, a 5/8-inch edge tear at the right margin, staple holes at each corner, scattered blemishes, and overall toning. Presents well with strong color and bold graphic impact.
