A distinguished pair of Battersea enamel tiebacks decorated with American eagles grasping arrows and olive branches and surmounted by thirteen stars, with a banner in the eagle’s beak bearing the motto E Pluribus Unum. Produced for the American market during the Federal period, the imagery reflects the early development of national iconography associated with the Great Seal of the United States.
Condition: Very fine; minor hairlines.
