An important visual document of the Civil Rights Movement produced for the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee and featuring a photograph by Danny Lyon. The image of a Mississippi Highway Patrol officer is paired with the stark caption “Is He Protecting You?”, a pointed commentary on law enforcement and civil rights in the American South. Printed by the Lincoln Lithograph Company, the poster forms part of a small series that has come to represent the visual language of the movement.
