Grateful Dead — “Crimson Madness” Fillmore Auditorium Handbill
San Francisco, November 7–8, 1969 — 8½ x 11 inches — CGC 8.5 (Very Fine+)

An original concert handbill promoting performances by the Grateful Dead at the Fillmore Auditorium, referred to here as the “New/Old Fillmore,” marking the venue’s return to its original location at Fillmore and Geary. Printed in a striking red-and-black palette, the design is credited to Cab Covay, reflecting the more graphic and intensified visual style emerging in San Francisco concert art at the close of the 1960s.

The bill also advertises appearances by So. Bay Experimental Flash, Alligator, and Crimson Madness, placing the handbill within the broader network of psychedelic and experimental rock acts active in the Bay Area at the time. Issued during a transitional moment for both the band and the San Francisco music scene, the piece represents a strong example of late-period Fillmore concert material.

Condition: CGC graded 8.5 (Very Fine+).
